Description: A foodservice buying group has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sales Account Executive for the Northeast/Midwest region. The buying group is a subsidiary of a sales and marketing company that supports businesses in every channel of the food distribution industry. The ideal candidate would live in either the Northeast or Chicagoland area and have easy access transportation connecting the two regions. The individual should also have a strong understanding of the foodservice industry within either or both of those regions. This is a sales position and the successful candidate must demonstrate a command of every selling skill involved in the sales process. First, because there is a portfolio of established member accounts this individual must be able to understand the unique requirements of each food distributor and develop appropriate programs to support and grow the buying group’s business within that account. Next, the candidate must be able to identify synergies among the members and execute strategies that enhance the regional group’s performance. Third, the candidate must truly enjoy identifying qualified prospective members, selling them on the benefits of joining the buying group and successfully converting them to active membership. Fourth, this individual must have a work ethic that thrives on independent activity combined with a sense of urgency and efficient use of time. Finally this individual must never lose sight of the fact he or she is part of a larger team that must work together to effectively execute the buying group’s clearly defined goals using the resources budgeted. In addition to sales responsibilities each Sales Account Executive has responsibility for managing selected buying group projects so the candidate must be able to describe examples of taking a concept from idea to execution. In sum, the successful candidate will be someone with professional accomplishments that: reflect self-motivation, initiative, independence and strong listening, communication and interpersonal skills; show an ability to work both within the buying group and across corporate divisions to successfully manage selected projects; and demonstrate an ability to deliver results. Requirements include a minimum of 5 years’ Account Sales experience ideally within a larger consumer products goods company calling on Foodservice channels. A demonstrated understanding of the foodservice channel, practices and procedures is necessary. Knowledge of the C-Store, or supermarket Dairy/Deli channels is a plus. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software.
